BUSINESS CLUB

KIVA Fundraiser - 2018, Semester 1

Planning Form

Supervisor Statement

Step 1 - planning

The 2018 Business Club consists of 6 year 12 students. Every Tuesday, business club members meet up, discuss and plan what we want to achieve in the upcoming weeks, including the KIVA borrower that we want to eventually donate the fundraised money to. On a google doc, we have planned each member's role and position, items to make/bring to the bake sale, estimated prices for each item as well as goals and plans for what we want to achieve in upcoming weeks. We are still continuously utilising our facebook group chat that I created last year in order to communicate across information such as if there was anything important that someone had missed out on if they were away or if anyone needed clarifying with any queries.

REFLECTION 1

LO5 Demonstrate the skills and recognise the benefits of working collaboratively

From working collaboratively with my fellow business club peers, i have realised the importance of shared opinions, ideas and suggestions. These can really help in contributing to a larger idea and as many hands make light work, it was much easier and more efficient in having everyone contribute an idea or suggestion of what they thought was appropriate for the fundraiser. It has not been easy trying to maintain a balance between organising and preparing for the fundraiser as well as keeping up with our half-yearly exams. However, through the timed schedule that we have been keeping up to date, it has definitely helped in keeping us informed about what we should be doing, what we should have done and what we should be planning on doing next. This activity has also helped inform me about what skills/qualities and requirements a leader should have. Qualities such as confidence, passion, diligence are all important in being a leader as well as being someone in which is able harmoniously lead a group of people towards the directed goal.

LO6 Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance

Through the fundraiser, we will be able to donate the funds to KIVA fundraiser which will go towards helping women in need of resources. This has informed me of the disparity between nations and has opened my eyes to the lives of others and what they must go through in order to reach their end goal.

We created posters in order to promote our bake sale, keeping to the easter them. We stuck posters around main school as well as the Kent House so that everyone would have seen our promotion poster at least once. We also created seperate posters with the prices of each food item, so that it made it easier for students to know the cost as well as making it easier for us to calculate the change.

Step 2 - marketing

Step 3 - making food

I made cupcakes and brownies and attempted to stick with out easter themed bake sale. The vanilla cupcakes were decorated with pink and blue icing, chocolate easter eggs and white chocolate drizzle. The chocolate brownies also had white chocolate buttons inside and were all cut into bit size pieces and put into individual packages.

Step 4 - fundraiser day

The fundraiser was held on 27/03/18 during recess and lunch. We ended up relocating our bake sale to just main school because there were close to no people at the Kent House. Other food that was made/bought included cupcakes, a pavlova cake, brownies, fairy bread, lolly bags, chocolate easter eggs. All cupcakes and chocolate easter eggs ended up selling out with a minimal amount of left over food items.

The final amount raised was $249.40 AUD and this amount will be added onto the funds raised in our next fundraiser so that we are able to donate a larger sum of money to a KIVA organisation.

Step 5 - kiva donation
