Step 1 - planning
This time round, we wanted to do something different besides having a bake sale as that was what we had done for the previous two fundraisers. As the weather was getting colder, we decided that having a hot chocolate sale would be a suitable fundraising idea. Our goal was also to raise around $250 so that we were able to combine the fundraised money from the last bake sale.
REFLECTION 1
LO5 Demonstrate the skills and recognise the benefits of working collaboratively
It has not been easy trying to maintain a balance between organising and preparing for the fundraiser as well as keeping up with our half-yearly exams. However, through the timed schedule that we have been keeping up to date, it has definitely helped in keeping us informed about what we should be doing, what we should have done and what we should be planning on doing next. From working collaboratively with my fellow business club peers, i have realised the importance of shared opinions, ideas and suggestions. These can really help in contributing to a larger idea and as many hands make light work, it was much easier and more efficient in having everyone contribute an idea or suggestion of what they thought was appropriate for the fundraiser. So far, this activity has helped inform me about what skills/qualities and requirements a leader should have. Qualities such as confidence, passion, diligence are all important in being a leader as well as being someone in which is able harmoniously lead a group of people towards the directed goal.
LO6 Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance
Through the fundraiser, we will be able to donate the funds to KIVA fundraiser which will go towards helping women in need of resources. This has informed me of the disparity between nations and has opened my eyes to the lives of others and what they must go through in order to reach their end goal.
