BUSINESS CLUB

KIVA Fundraiser - 2018, Semester 2

Planning Form

Supervisor Statement

Step 1 - planning

This time round, we wanted to do something different besides having a bake sale as that was what we had done for the previous two fundraisers. As the weather was getting colder, we decided that having a hot chocolate sale would be a suitable fundraising idea.  Our goal was also to raise around $250 so that we were able to combine the fundraised money from the last bake sale.

REFLECTION 1

LO5 Demonstrate the skills and recognise the benefits of working collaboratively

It has not been easy trying to maintain a balance between organising and preparing for the fundraiser as well as keeping up with our half-yearly exams. However, through the timed schedule that we have been keeping up to date, it has definitely helped in keeping us informed about what we should be doing, what we should have done and what we should be planning on doing next. From working collaboratively with my fellow business club peers, i have realised the importance of shared opinions, ideas and suggestions. These can really help in contributing to a larger idea and as many hands make light work, it was much easier and more efficient in having everyone contribute an idea or suggestion of what they thought was appropriate for the fundraiser. So far, this activity has helped inform me about what skills/qualities and requirements a leader should have. Qualities such as confidence, passion, diligence are all important in being a leader as well as being someone in which is able harmoniously lead a group of people towards the directed goal.

LO6 Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance

Through the fundraiser, we will be able to donate the funds to KIVA fundraiser which will go towards helping women in need of resources. This has informed me of the disparity between nations and has opened my eyes to the lives of others and what they must go through in order to reach their end goal.

Step 2 - marketing

We also created posters in order to promote our hot chocolate sale. We stuck posters around main school as well as the Kent House so that everyone would have seen our promotion poster at least once. The poster includes the prices of the items that will be sold so that people know about the price of each food item.

Step 3 - making food

I purchased all items needed to make the hot chocolate from Woolworths, including hot chocolate powder, full cream milk, mini marshmallows, whipped cream, styrofoam cups. The hot chocolate was made on the day of the fundraiser, with hot milk and the chocolate drinking powder.

Step 4 - fundraiser day

We held our fundraiser at recess and lunch in palm court at main school on 14/05/18 . Our main item that was being sold was hot chocolate and this turned out to be a very big sellout, including the marshmallow and whipped cream toppings. We also sold other food items on the side such as chocolate crackles, lolly bags and chocolates.

Step 5 - kiva donation

The previous amount raised was $249.40 AUD and this amount will be added onto the funds raised in this fundraiser so that we are able to donate a larger sum of money to a KIVA organisation. We managed to raise $259.30 AUD and when added onto the previous sum, it is a total of $508.70 AUD raised.
